I have gathered some tips that will make your garden look like you have a full time landscaper at your beck and call!
One of the best things that you can do for your garden is to mulch. Putting down 2-3 inches of mulch will keep the cool down below and when you do water, it will not only keep your plant, tree and shrubs hydrated but then when fall comes the mulch is a like a warm cozy blanket for the winter. Mulching is one of the best investments you can make and it makes your landscape more attractive and your home more inviting.
Water your trees, plants and shrubs in the early morning if you can. This will avoid leaf burn and will hydrate your plants as the heat of the day wears on. Any droplets of left over water will have evaporated thus preventing mold residue. If the only time you can is in the evening, try to do it before sundown.
Pots of flowers will give you color and variety but will last longer only if you have the right container. The plastic container that the plant comes in is thin and the heat will start baking the roots. An investment of ceramic or cement planters will not only enhance your patio or entrance but keep your plants nice and cool when you water.
Take time out once a week to prune or dead head your shrubs and plants. A little TLC will go a long way. This way the plant will not have to labor to try to "repair" itself.
